Ive been watching lots of movies lately

The Queen: It goes without saying that Helen Mirren is fantastic. I really enjoyed the performance from James Cromwell his character is partly why I want to buy the film and I watched it twice when I rented it. Turned out Adam did want to see it so we watched it again but you can also watch it with separate audio commentary from the producer and director or from British historians where you are apparently told what is true and what is not true in the movie and I’d really like to know if Prince Phillip is really so brash and insensitive, they are not kind to his character in the film at all.
I remember the day Diana died and I had one friend at the time that was in ruins over it. Had I not been so close with this individual I’d probably not remember as much from the period in history as I do, which did bring a bit more intrigue into watching it for me. Seeing an earlier side to Tony Blair is fascinating, considering the placement he ended up taking next to Bush in bed. I feel that Prince Charles was miscast. The movie will make you think and possibly re-evaluate any opinions you hold firm to over the events and how it was handled by the Royal Family.

The Last King of Scotland: Boobs in the first ten minutes possibly five. I knew Forest Whitaker was going to be good, I just didn’t know how good, from his East African accent to his makeup - simply superb. The relationship between Idi Amin and the character, Scottish doctor Nicholas Garrigan played by James McAvoy, and the events surrounding the two are very engrossing and intense, that could be an understatement, Whitaker actually scared me it was awesome.

Notes on a Scandal: This is another movie with absolutely fantastic performances, Judi Dench is so good I can’t even think of words to describe it and Cate Blanchett again reminds you why Gwyneth Paltrow should hand over her Oscar from Shakespeare in Love the year they were both up, Blanchett for Elizabeth - she was ROBBED! The performances do a good job of distracting the viewer from the fact that the movie is actually full of holes the plot presented on screen is rather weak. I still enjoyed this movie and it wasn’t until a few hours after thinking past the acting that I began to look closer and start picking at some of the directions it takes and doesn’t take and some issues it never really addresses.

Alpha Dog: I loved this movie. It is extremely sad but wicked good. I enjoyed how it was shot. Justin Timberlake proves he really can do no wrong. I did not take long to separate ‘him’ from his character and I found that to be impressive. The only thing I really didn’t like about the movie was Sharon Stone’s fat suit, the suit itself is fine, it is the face makeup- check out her upper lip if you watch it.

Children of Men: Action packed! There are a lot of little details in this movie that I enjoyed. It is a very interesting concept. The impending extinction of man the fight between matriarchal and patriarchal societal beliefs, terrorism and the destruction of government and almost the entire earth can’t stop Clive Owen.

Next up, Snakes on a Plane
