My parents too, but mine didn't really ever rock out or listen to the cool stuff. I have recently abandoned any idea of cool, and just accepted that I like what I like. Some of these I own and some I don't but they all stuck in my subconscious.

Jim Croce (Was always in my dad's car player. I thought it was what played in every car or something, like there was only one soundtrack for driving around. There never seems to be enough time to do the things that you want to do once you find them.)

Barry Manilow (Saw live with parents. Don't really listen to him now but his songs really take me back when I hear them.)

John Denver (Saw live with mom and grandparents. My sister still plays muppets xmas album over and over and over in season.)

Peter Paul & Mary

Neil Diamond

Before your time, but there was also "Free to be, you and me." A Marlo Thomas kids album that got a lot of play when I was really young. It's surprising but recently I discovered that I still remember a lot of the lyrics. More than 30 years later. Weird.

The fat fucked up Elvis was the best, I love it when he forgets the lyrics and just starts going blah blah blah blah... its a clasic. You seam to have left DLAK off the list, surely "Epileptic Seista" deserves a mention.
