EARTH DAY NERD ALERT!!
Blast from the past!
Grade Seven, 1990 I was already down with the environment. This story got chosen to go in the paper as a special insert paper, only one kid got picked from each class. Small town paper and all, but it was still cool.
Click on it if you can’t read it, although it is pretty bad, only grade seven and I already cared about the Earth though WOOT!
Happy Earth Day!! And may we all learn how to treat everyday like Earth Day.

Thats adorable that you cared so much at such a younge age. When I was that age all I cared about was writing the boys name that I liked on my notebook!!

No wonder why we get along SO well
You were an enviro-geek child! AWESOME!!! I always wanted to know what the inspiration was behind those great posts on the environment (I recall one from Earth Hour that I particularly liked) … it is clear to me now

Today, in celebration of Earth Day, I mowed my yard. It doesn’t get much greener than that, driving around on a huge riding mower, kicking up clouds of shredded green grass, which falls back to earth again, only to slowly decay and fertilize my lawn for me. I got a lovely sunburn for my trouble, too.

You were in Grade 7 in 1990? I feel so old.
Anyway, fabulous stuff. You are so cool. You just went up another notch in my books. Now I have to buy you a meal, not just a drink.

that’s really awesome, thanks for posting it. I don’t think I was all into the environment when I was a child (that sounds weird, being “into” the environment.. it shouldn’t be somethign we’re into, it should just be!) but it’s good to see some kids are/were.
ps: in 1990 I was 5.

i loved:
“people were careful with what they used because they didn’t have much”
-evidently it takes abundance to engender neglect. isn’t that bizarre?
and also:
“man just kept on going”
-didn’t he though?
i too was down with the land at a very young age, i mean DOWN. good for you Cor:)
