Looks like we made it..

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

HOLY I can’t believe it is Tuesday already, where does the time go? I have been pretty giddy since last Friday somehow I got the one line from Barry Manilow’s song Looks Like We Made It stuck in my head and that line would be the ”looks like we made it” part, the rest of the song doesn’t really work lyric wise, but that line mixed in with some humming and stabs at other lines without looking up the lyrics have been ever present to the point I dedicated that song to Adam on Sunday on Facebook for everyone to see because I know Adam hates Manilow and is probably about ready to duct tape my vocal chords. I found a video for the song on YouTube and it had all the karaoke lyrics running across it as well so I serenaded him whilst playing the air guitar. You want romance? I think that about covers it.

i love this photo

The only shitty thing about the whole weekend was that on Friday at around 3pm-ish I started to feel really nauseous and had to go lay down and I only had two hours until my shrink session and just felt ILL so I canceled, I will likely have to pay a cool $170.00 for that but I had no idea what was happening, and then I started to get the stabbing pains in behind my eyes and my head started to pound and I really couldn’t move and I was like DUH how could you NOT have realized that was a migraine coming on, I waited until it had subsided enough that I could maneuver myself off of the couch and into the kitchen to get something for it. Much to my relief it was under control pretty quickly but it was too late for my session. I called Dr. B back and explained what happened he knows about my headaches but still canceling two hours before? I think he will charge me for the missed session, granted he never said anything about it and normally he does so I guess I will find out if and when he hands me an invoice this Friday.

as you can see D is using my guitarSo basically we hung out with David and Iris Eggwhites and we had some Guitar Hero battles and we went bowling on Saturday night and spent Sunday how we spend most days, laughing and enjoying each others company. Just now we are in year two of marriage and almost heading into year five together. It sure does not feel like we’ve been together that long but we have. And I didn’t bust out any wedding photos because they are all on flickr and our favourite one is on Facebook we see them all the time if you want to see them you know where they are I’m just bored with them right now.

Too Hotps. This is my most favourite Guitar Hero shot ever. And it is only fitting that I was playing the 80s Encore edition when this was taken. What am I doing wearing that headband for real? Well, I’m retraining my hair growth pattern of course. It is sweet I don’t leave the house in it but I do wear it into bed because I am sexy to the max.

A YouTube Saturday night

Monday, August 20th, 2007

This weekend I did a major league super fast cleaning of the apartment because the dust doesn’t show itself until there is company coming over and company was coming over. I can’t remember how it started, I think that we were goofing around and watching Robot Chicken and then we got into the Mickey Mouse club videos on Youtube. Adam loves to make fun of my celebrity crush on Ryan Gosling maybe because he’s Canadian or maybe because The Notebook is the BEST movie EVER and he is jealous. So we all sat in front of the computer and relaxed to the sweet R&B stylings of young Ryan Gosling, JC Chasez, JT, Britney, and Christina Aguilera.

Adam is also obsessed with this video that was posted by Miss604 during her blog-a-thon with John-a-thon, and because of the song we were led to this version of the Dramatic Prairie Dog with an 80’s flavour. It has butt cleave. Not the Prairie Dog, the other one.

Also because I am a HUGE Oz fan we checked out Rita Moreno singing a classic with Animal ripping it up on drums. We basically ended the night with a bunch of Wesley Willis blaring way too loud. Rock out!!

Blogstock 2007 or ‘The Vancouver International Bloggers Drinking Convention’ as it is now being called was all kinds of awesome.

On Friday at 4pm-ish I met up with Keira-Anne as she was getting off work and we walked to meet Rebecca to head on over to Steamworks for some pre-blogstock drink action with Duane, Tony and Adam. [John was working.. boooourns!!] Some interesting and great conversation was had by all and boobs came up a lot. I absolutely love that Keira goes on about them pretty close to as much as I do. Get me drunk and not just the conversations come up but the baby cleave and then some comes out.

BOOOOOOB GRAB GALORE!

SERIOUSLY HOT!

It was then basically off to the Railway Club sans Rebecca and Keira though because Rebecca was getting up to do The 24 hour Blog-a-thon at 6am. She completed the Blog-a-thon this morning raising close to 400 dollars for the Surrey Food Bank. Well done!! Even though she missed a great time.

It was a tad bit surreal walking in and seeing so many faces I recognized from two and a half years of commenting, lurking and wondering and sometimes wrongly assuming how someone would be in person.

awww BFFs since the sandbox

Jared and I have wanted to meet for AGES probably well over a year now of chatting and saying LET’S MEET but I am such a snob about leaving the West End we never ended up meeting, I’m sure it wasn’t ALL MY FAULT but it just didn’t happen until Friday night. We had planned on Facebook to pretend we had known each other forever, since the sandbox, not a big surprise we hit it off in about two seconds. I was disappointed that his partner wasn’t there but very happy that he had arrived with Elizabeth and her beau who Raymi has been suggesting I meet since she recently moved here. Foxxy who we also spent time with on Wednesday night at the fireworks was there but she left early with Jared and company, I think.

In no particular order I also met and had good times with:

Pat Zaph
Carmen
Chad
Danielle
JaG
Nome
Jennifer

Adam & Duane

always me with the red eye...

nope im not drunk

I have to say that for me the night went better than expected seeing as I really had no idea what to expect. I am really glad that I took part. It is just insane to me that blogging the thing that keeps you behind your computer nerding out is the thing that seems to be getting me out more and more lately.

Be sure and check the rest on my flickr.

Breaking the Bra

Friday, July 13th, 2007

It started innocently enough with Adam wearing shorts that I really enjoy but then he put on a shirt that I can’t stand with crabs on it and his Grandma gave it to him, it is a total Grandma shirt. I tried to get him to change to another shirt that matched the shorts because I happen to think he looks pretty fly in the ensemble it reminds me of our honeymoon and I really hate the crab shirt. He wouldn’t take it off stating it was awesome and he had worn it ALL THE TIME and I had never said anything. YOU ONLY WORE IT INSIDE. He said he couldn’t believe I was trying to change him and all that crap and I was forced to recall a story from back in the day when I lived with James and I had this green shirt that he hated and I knew he hated it and I wore it anyway and one day it disappeared and I forgot about it only to find it months later under the bed AND Adam dresses me all the time. He changes the shirt, I think all is grand until I walk back into the room to find he has now put on pants. WHAT. The whole point of changing the Grandma shirt was to enhance the look of the shorts I totally freaked out but whatever case I stated held no weight and at least the crab shirt was gone. Once we get outside and realize how ridiculously hot out it is Adam decides that he will wear no shirt for the walk over the bridge [about a 40 minute walk] and states that had I not complained about the crab shirt because it was bigger than the one he was wearing that therefore allowed for better ventilation he’d have kept his shirt on. I am not into men walking around without shirts on I’m just not but I married this man and I love everything about him so on our mission we went and walking was bloody hot, real hot, damn hot, and I WANTED TO GO TOPLESS. I love attention but when it is a million and sixty eight thousand degrees outside and in two blocks I am already sweating buckets I was thinking more that I didn’t want to show up at Steph’s place soaked so I decided I would start with rolling up my tank top but by the time we got to the Cambie bridge - SCREW IT. Off with the tank top. SUCKS I’m wearing an ugly bra.

We put our shirts on before arriving because I don’t know why but we did. Steph opened her door and I was instantly showing her photos from the walk, there are more on my flickr. We had arrived to play Scattergories and our friend Dvo was coming too but he was late.

Stephanie’s cat HANK is fucking crazy. He has attacked me about fifty times now although I love him Gus does not like me much when I return home. Adam and Hank had never met and I was excited anticipating Hank taking the piss out of Adam. I think I still ended up with more scratches though.

It got late we played fourteen rounds. We played into the wee hours. Dvo won Scattergories by a land slide.

A lot of things became clear on Saturday night after I arrived at my favorite restaurant, The Macaroni Grill. I knew I was special because we got to eat up stairs. Although I confessed to knowing something was up I didn’t know who would make it and spent Saturday all nervous and hyper and couldn’t take any extra anxiety meds because I knew I’d be drinking. Some people did trick me into thinking they weren’t going when I tried to execute what I though were stealth tactics to get information.

I was pleasantly surprised to see my friend Tricia and my buddy Darryl and I single them out because I hadn’t seen them since the wedding and I then went underground for months. Seeing them both made me realize just how much my friends really do accept me bullshit and all. I went MIA for months when I crashed after the wedding and it is so nice to see that people genuinely stand by me. I know they do, but witnessing it feels good because I know I still care even if I can’t leave my apartment for months and crap but always worry and wonder if I really know for sure. I have gone to The Macaroni Grill for my birthday so many times I have photos of Spockette who attended this year also attending my 21st. She’d kill me if I posted them though.

A big thanks to Adam because he was the mastermind and I KNOW I drove him NUTS! Like with my cake I was very upset on Thursday my actual birthday because there was no Dairy Queen Ice Cream cake and I did not understand WHY??? But it was because Dvo made me a VERY and I mean VERY special cake. One of the ingredients is pure green. Dvo and Adam have worked together for years but Dvo has become my friend too and no one has ever made me a cake before that wasn’t my mom.

Thank you everyone for coming and doing what I wanted which ended up pretty classic me, dinner and then hanging between our four brown walls having drinks and me sharing sometimes too much information a grand habit of mine when I drink too much. Ever want to get to know the real dirt on me just get me hammered. Thankfully seeing me hammered is very rare. I am so open already I can only imagine what I’d write if I blogged drunk, I shudder to think.

Craft Addicts

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Rhonda is back for a visit. We have been making crafts and playing with toys because we are mature like that and because Adam bought a glue gun. Adam made a blow fish. I made a grasshopper and Rhonda made a lobster, but we suspect it has crabs.
We are also growing a crocodile. It takes 72 hours we are almost at 48 and I have already had to change his container he is in a HUGE stew pot or what I figure a stew pot is if there is such a thing. Tonight we are going to leave him in the kitchen sink. His name is Steve. We are not sure yet if he poses any danger to us, I guess if we wake up and Gus is missing, or one of our limbs is gone or I find myself in some sort of death roll he will have to go, but for now he is just growing away in his stew pot. We forgot to take a photo of him BEFORE we put him in the water or rather I didn’t take a photo because I did not believe he would grow at all. I was wrong.

Steve has already been growing for about 12 hours in this photo.

Almost 48 hours! GO STEVE!

He obviously needs a new living space.

Steve’s new living space until he moves to the sink.

UPDATE: REMEMBERING STEVE

At approximately 8pm Pacific Standard time on April Friday the 13th Steve exploded. Details are slim, we only know that he grew with magnificent speed in his stew pot and needed to be moved to the sink and then the unexplainable and unimaginable happened.

I apologize for the graphic nature of the following photos.

A send off to C.J

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

So basically last week ruled. RULED. Adam and I both had wicked fun, and good times were had by ALL.
C.J arrived with gifts and even Gus got one. I got a ‘Led Zeppelin’ t-shirt and slept in it every night until I did the wash. Adam got ‘The Who’ and was wearing it last night. These shirts are very special. Gus did not get a t-shirt. He was instantly easy to get along with and so bloody funny, a great story teller and a gentleman. And yes ladies he is single.

Here Gus demonstrates love for her new toy/gift.

I was a little nervous. But we’d been excited for weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks. C.J had mentioned he was actually coming over to visit last year shortly after our wedding and he didn’t make it. Even we thought we might be going to England once or California and I had let the blogger clans in those areas know we were coming and that we wanted to meet them and then we never showed. We went to Mexico. Finally at New Years I met some local bloggers, Miss604 and John her wickedly nice husband. Rebecca and I had been talking for months on instant messenger, in fact I don’t even remember exactly how we ended up exchanging instant messenger addresses but we talked so frequently and discovered we lived so close I think it was inevitable we’d meet. But other than that in almost two years it has all been instant messaging, text messaging, snail mail and email, connecting with people and wanting to meet them but settling on electronic devices for contact.

Of course C.J, Adam and I had connected rather well over electronic devices but my nerves were driven by my ‘boring’ side, my issues [that are obviously getting better] with spending long periods of time with people and our lack of a car to take him EVERY WHERE. I warned him wed be on foot for pretty much all of our missions. In therapy last Friday I mentioned to Dr. B that I had kept repeating to myself over and over: he has read your blog for almost two years he has a basic idea of what you are like it is not YOUR personal responsibility for him to have a good holiday. It must have worked because I didn’t spend time worrying about such things and we just went with the flow. Brilliant.

Going with the flow did include A LOT of walking. At the end of the first day my hips were killing me and my right ankle felt like I had twisted it. C.J was ribbing me because he wasn’t sore at all until he showed up the following morning apologizing because he’d woken up and been unable to move his legs at first. Adam and C.J went out to see some bands and do the male bonding thing where I think a lot of beer is involved. C.J rocked out Guitar Hero pretty hard, finishing the first level in only three goes at it. He also gave me a real guitar lesson so I know a power chord now. My specialty is still The Air Guitar and those skills are so tight right now, what with playing so much GH I am almost ready to compete nationally maybe even internationally, maybe I’ll even get a sponsor and go global. I don’t think they have air guitar sponsors so it would have to be you guys.

*

We also had two visits with fellow blogger and one of my best friends Rilah. He met the wee Zorro and fell under her charms. It is NOT HARD let me tell you. We also had a game night which was grand fun but I kept looking at C.J and thinking poor guy so young yet stuck with a married couple playing games in an apartment where we all have to keep it down as to not wake the other couple’s baby. Probably a wee bit different from hanging with pals over the pond but there were still drinks and it is mostly my voice that is the concern anyway, it is naturally a little on the loud side.

I do not consider myself a good hostess, but I didn’t do too bad I made a lot of tea and caught on pretty quickly to when during the day to be sure and offer tea and sometimes just had the kettle on before I even asked. Our grocery store tea is pretty much crap but C.J found a specialty store and was able to find himself some ‘English Breakfast Tea’. [Product of Austria, Imported from Ontario]

I’d like to thank the weather for being great all week. We were also FINALLY able to golf the first round of the season on full greens. It was AWESOME. C.J got to see a Raccoon which he seemed to like more than our massive black killer squirrels.

*

It was without doubt a week to remember. By the end of it I was speaking in this horrible faux English accent, that and many other experiences over the week made me fantasize and dream of future kick ass blogger meet ups to come, how insane and awesome it was to have ‘met’ someone online from so far away and then to actually meet them ‘in real life’, it went well beyond any ideas I had of what it might be like. And while showing it off I was also reminded on many an occasion of just how beautiful of a city Adam and I live in.

Too see more photos from the ‘Blogger Meet Up’ you can view my Flickr Photos.
